Bags and rolls of the Hot Springs National Park Quarter were placed on sale by the United States Mint on Monday, April 19, (see article) — the day before they were ceremonial launched at the park itself on its 178th anniversary.
The debuting US Mint sales figures show that from Monday to Sunday the following Hot Spring quarter products were purchased:
| 100-coin bag (P) | 5,268 |
| 100-coin bag (D) | 4,915 |
| Two-Roll Set (80 coin) (P&D) | 25,983 |
They are much better than the debuting sales of the Northern Marinas, which started at 4,160; 4,069 and 18,817 for respective bags and two-roll sets.
In fact, the opening sales for the rolls are just over three-quarters of where the prior Northern Marina Islands’ quarter rolls ended when their sales were stopped after being available for months. The bags are at two-thirds.
However, the comparisons do not take into account any sales of 1,000-coin bags, which were available last year, but are not this year. The Northern Marina Islands quarter 1,000-coin bags ended with total sales of 2,283.
Hot Springs Quarter Dollar rolls and bags may be ordered directly from the Mint’s Web site (http://www.usmint.gov/). They are also available through the toll free number 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
The Hot Springs National Park Quarter is the first of fifty-six releases in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.
The remaining four 2010 quarters scheduled for release later this year honor Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Yosemite National Park in California, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona and Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon. See the America the Beautiful Quarters Schedule for future year issues and sites honored.
