Salt River Bay America the Beautiful Quarter

The 2020 Salt River Bay America the Beautiful Quarter will be the third strike for the year 2020 of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program. It also number fifty-three out of fifty-six new strikes created under the program which launched in 2010 and runs until 2021.

Final design of this Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller quarter dollar will probably not be released until early 2020 along with the other four quarters of that year. Design candidates, however should appear sometime the year before for review by the appropriate parties.

Quarter dollars honoring the National Park of American Samoa and the Weir Farm National Historic Site of Connecticut will be released in 2020 before this Salt River Bay Coin. It will be followed by two more strikes which showcase Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park of Vermont and Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve of Kansas

Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve of the US Virgin Islands

Calling itself a "living museum", the Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve on the island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands was created in 1992 by an act of Congress.

Together with the government of the islands, the Park Service preserves not only historical sites like the only known site where members of the Columbus expedition actually set foot on territory now under the control of the United States, it also protects vast pristine environments like mangrove forests and coral reefs.

Of interest, Columbus did not always have a peaceful time in the area. On his second voyage, a group of natives confronted the Columbus expedition and a fight shortly ensued. This marks the first time natives of the New World resisted European advancement.

Consisting of only 1,015 acres, the park defies its size in grandeur when it comes to the beauty it offers its visitors.
