America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Sets Prices Raised

2010 US Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set

This set is one of three that had its prices raised by the United States Mint

The United States Mint has increased prices for its 2010-2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Sets.

The sets feature collector versions of the circulating America the Beautiful Quarters®. These coins are minted to a proof standard and each are struck in 90 percent silver. It is their silver composition that caused the Mint to raise the prices.

Silver this year has shot up to levels not seen since 1980 when the Hunt brothers attempted to corner the silver market. The United States Mint, as a result, reviewed its product pricing to make sure it was not selling silver coins and sets that had melt values that were higher than what it was charging.
