Priced at $14.95 and the marking the fourth annual release, the clad 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set holds this year’s five quarters that depict:
- White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire,
- Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial of Ohio,
- Great Basin National Park of Nevada,
- Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine of Maryland
- and Mount Rushmore National Memorial of South Dakota
Each of these coins carries the ‘S’ mint mark to denote production at the U.S. Mint facility in San Francisco.
Composition of Clad ATB Proof Quarters
The metallic composition of proof quarters is the same as those found in circulation, but the proof finish makes them desirable to coin collectors as details are more prominent and backgrounds are mirror-like and pristine.
Specifically, the quarter’s clad metallic make-up is 8.33% nickel with the remaining balance copper. The silver version of this proof set, timed for an earlier release on January 8, 2013, has its America the Beautiful Quarters minted from 90% silver and 10% copper. Its price is $41.95.
Popularity of Clad ATB Quarters Proof Sets
Many collectors buy clad proof sets with the quarters every year. The following table offers opening week and current sales for the first three America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Sets issued by the U.S. Mint:
2010-2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set Sales
| Year | Issued | Debut Price | Debut Sales | Latest Sales* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2010 | May 13, 2010 | $14.95 | 75,558 Over 4 Days | 276,335 |

*Latest sales as of December 31, 2012.
One of the reasons this latest set will not see sales of more than a few hundred thousand is because some people will wait to buy the more encompassing 2013 Proof Set. This core annual set from the U.S. Mint not only has the same quarters in it, but also proofs of the 2013 Lincoln cent, the 2013 Jefferson nickel, the 2013 Roosevelt dime, the 2013 Kennedy half-dollar, the four 2013 Presidential $1 coins and the 2013 Native American $1 coin. Two disadvantages with the 2013 Proof Set is its higher $31.95 price and later release date of March 28, 2013.
This latest quarters proof set offers collectors the chance to get the five 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters in proof quality, at the same time, at the earliest possible time and at the cheapest price.
